Iberia
Iberia was founded on June 28th, 1927. The airline began scheduled services in December of the
same year.
Since then more than 800 million passengers have flown with Iberia, situating this company
among the five largest European airlines, and making Iberia the unrivalled leader on routes
connecting Spain with the rest of Europe, and Europe with Latin America. It is one of the most
profitable airlines in Europe.
Today the Iberia Group flies to106 destinations in 43countries.Via code-sharing agreements
with other carriers; it offers flights to other additional 120 destinations in 31 countries. With a
fleet of about 175 aircrafts, it operates about 1,000 flights each day. In 2009, Iberia carried
25.5 million passengers.
Iberia's new Business Plus
The newly-designed seats used in Iberia's "Business Plus" seating section on intercontinental
flights earned top marks in a survey conducted by Skytrax, a prestigious aviation market consulting
firm. Iberia´s new seat were rivalled by those of just four other airlines in the world, only one
of them European.
The new Business Plus seats, which are available on Iberia's long-haul aircraft, were
designed to Iberia's unique specifications and are the most notable feature of the new cabins. The
seats can be transformed into completely flat beds that are 1.9 metres long and 88 centimetres
wide. They also have adjustable head rests, fold-down arm rests, and extendible leg rests. A double
back cushion has a massage function and can be adjusted for the proper rest of the spinal column.
The distance between rows in the Business Plus section is a generous 188 centimetres, and the
seat-beds are set in rigid pods that ensure more room for the passenger while preventing any
invasion of space by the passenger in front and offering you 220 centimetres of personal space.
Iberia's Business Plus seating class also features the latest entertainment and
communications systems. Long-distance business travellers have individual 14" touch screens and
satellite telephones, laptop power and connection ports, and facilities for receiving and sending
both email and cell phone text messages. Passengers can enjoy six interactive computer games, 12
audio channels and 26 video channels with first-run films, information about the flight, real-time
images from the aircraft exterior, and a wide variety of musical options. The gourmet meal service
offerings were designed by the renowned Spanish chef Sergi Arola.
Iberia's Auto Check-in at Copenhagen and Stockholm
Iberia has installed automatic check-in machines at Copenhagen and Arlanda Airport.
These machines, which are already in operation, make it possible for passengers to obtain
their boarding cards and, if they haven't already done so, to choose their seats, without having to
queue at check-in counters. In most instances a passenger can also obtain a boarding card for the
return flight, if it is to take place on the same day or the following one.
The auto check-in machines may be used by passengers with either conventional paper tickets
or paperless e-tickets, and who are bound for destinations for which passport checks or additional
security or immigration procedures are not required.
Iberia auto check-in machines are available for passengers at almost all international
airports share machines with other airlines.
